Who We Are

Walt Davis

Walt grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2007, he enrolled at The University of Mississippi where he studied political science and English. After graduating, he worked for a non-profit microfinance firm in the Philippines and returned to Birmingham to begin seminary at Beeson Divinity School. His most notable accomplishment while in seminary was finding and marrying his wife Rachel. Rachel graduated from Auburn with a bachelor’s degree in secondary science education. She taught science for three years and currently works in youth ministry at Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Anna Malles

Anna was born in Winter Park, Fl and lived in the same house for 18 years until she made the brave (crazy) decision to move 600 miles away to Birmingham, AL (a state she’d never even been to!) to attend school at Birmingham-Southern College. It was a culture shock to say the least, as we all know that Florida ain’t the south. And even though many judged her for not being a football fan and for not even owning cowboy boots, she decided to tough it out and has never looked back! In fact, she fell so in love with Birmingham that she convinced (blackmailed) RUF into letting her stay and be an intern at Samford University! Anna is excited to professionally stalk students and bug them until they finally agree to hang out with her and then hopefully turn pity lunch dates into lifelong friendships. If you see her around campus, don’t be afraid to say hi! She doesn’t bite or smell so she’s got that going for her.

Tim Grider

Tim was born in Alabama and grew up in Huntsville. He graduated from Mississippi State University in December 2014. At State, Tim studied Anthropology and Archaeology. It has been said that Tim has the heart of an Alabama boy but the soul of a Mississippian. He definitely does not have the spiritual gift of sarcasm. He is excited to work for RUF at Samford and live in the Birmingham.
